Yesterday I got to meet the visiting director for You Can Lead a Horse to Water. His name is Philip Burrows and he's from the Bahamas. He's got to be one of the nicest and most interesting men I've ever met. I was SO nervous to meet him because I feel completely incapable of doing the job I've been asked to do. Well, I'm not very experienced anyway.
But everything started out so horribly because apparently he'd been emailing me and I never received any of the emails because there's something wrong with my school account or something. So anyway he had been trying to email me and then he found out the he spoke to a class that I was in and I didn't introduce myself after class (I was going to be late to speech). So all day I have friends coming up to me "Philip has been looking for you." "Philip really wants to meet with you." "Why didn't you go talk to Philip after class?" AHHH! Talk about adding pressure! So finally we went out to dinner and I got to finally meet him and he was very nice and that made me feel much better.
We went to the Main Street Pub and got free dinners on the theatre dept. which was WAY sweet! And bascially we just talked about how we wanted auditions to go. There were five of us altogether, Philip, Kristen and Matt (who are directing the student directed series this year), Jill (Our Costume wizard), and myself. It was fun but I kind of felt like a grown up at a business lunch. lol. Weird.
So auditions start tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous. Technically I'm just there to take notes for Philip but there are just more opportunities for me to make an ass of myself. Whish me luck!
